Our first time experiencing these amazing falls! Trail was well broken out via snowshoes (thanks Chief, Garrett and Melanie!), and we motored along quite easily to both Beede and Lower Falls. Beede Falls has experienced a bit of melt, which made for our pants freezing to the cave floor after about 10 min. Two openings, the first one to the left being larger and easier to navigate. We had to wiggle like worms to get into the second opening to the right, but well worth it. I’ve been told that in colder conditions you can crawl from one end to the other, but today the large hole and standing water 1/4 in told us to use the other entrance to see the rest of the cave. Well worth the time, and if you need a longer hike Mt Isreal is broken as well! Snow is still soft, so snowshoes are your best bet. Had the pleasure of chatting with another NEHH finisher! |
