Comments
Comments: Trail is defined but soft from parking lot to hut so snowshoes are a must. You will waste time and energy trying to get purchase in boots/spikes and will only churn up the soft track. There has been no thaw/freeze cycle to firm the track.

We ascended about 1/10th mile up the Madison cone in snowshoes but it became boney quick so we swapped to spikes from there to the summit and back to the same spot.

The side slope section above the tent site is somewhat sketchy (as mentioned in the traverse report from Wednesday). It is tracked out to the width of two snowshoes but is super soft/slippery so be cautious.
