 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
I don’t know if anything can be done, but the high snowpack will make this trail impassable soon. I brought my saw and recommend bringing one just in case. I only had to cut one branch, but there are a lot of duck-under trees and some crawl-under. |

Lots of skiers out today on the Kinsman Glade. In case you didn’t know, this trail is shared by the ski area and is popular when the snow is good, like right now. I wore snowshoes for the traction but the trail was well packed. I had to crawl on my knees higher up as the trail turns into a tunnel for a bit. At the Rim trail junction, the drifts were crazy looking, and I could see someone had turned around just before I got there. It was very cold and windy at the summit and my tracks had disappeared on the way down. I got off trail for a minute at the switchbacks, then saw fresh ski tracks and skiers and got back into the woods and down quickly. 3 hours round trip. The snow is very consolidated from the wind, even off trail. I hiked Tecumseh just before this and it was the same there, but with more people and less drifts. And less cold. |
