Trail in the woods had a packed base with some loose snow in top. There were many areas of drifting where the snow was unpacked. The .1 mile stretch up to the WCT intersection had enormous drifts, making trail finding tricky. A large group on snowshoes was headed up so the way should become more obvious. The 15 or so people I encountered were mostly wearing snowshoes but several weren’t and they were churning up the loose sections of trail. No idea how they made out in the drifts.
Cold day with a -4° start and some strong gusts. Snow-covered trees were as stunning as they have been all winter.
Wonderful to run into Doug and his group. Enjoyed chatting with Steven and Nancy. |
