Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good shape for this time of year - one stepover and one duck under that's been nicely limbed approaching the summit. Summit spur was hard to follow at the end but suspect the cairns were probably covered and there are very few trees that would be adequate for blazes.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Maddie had a great day - she loves zooming through powder and the snow depths were manageable.

Comments
Comments: Perfect day for this hike - was hoping for solitude and to not break trail in two feet of powder and that's exactly what we found. Short road walk from Glencliff parking then snowshoes went on at the start of Long Pond Road - trail has seen somewhat recent activity but not since the last storm, we broke trail through about ~6-8" of fluffy powder to the summit, base underneath was mostly stable. Meandered around the summit for a bit trying to find the best view and the end of the "trail", not sure if we found it but there are some random tracks in the open area now. Headed partway down the western section towards Page Road - the nice trough continues a short ways past the summit spur but peters out pretty quickly to a much less defined track (I'm guessing previous snowshoers missed the summit spur and turned around). We broke trail through ~12-14", glad it was downhill and not uphill for the first pass - no issues following the trail but it briefly disappears for a few short sections in the ledgy area. We hit our turnaround time about a mile from the trailhead but the old set of tracks continued and likely goes all the way to the trailhead - hike out was uneventful. With this being a lesser popular 52WAV hike and the upcoming forecast snowshoes will be 1000% needed for the foreseeable future - that being said it was a lovely day in the woods and we had the place to ourselves!
