Livermore Road was nicely groomed until the xc ski trails head right. From there it was a hard crust with an uneven surface due to barebooters. Scaur Ridge Trail had minimal snow down low but after the birch stand snow depth increased. Pine Bend Brook was well packed along with the Mount Tripyramid Trail.
We used snowshoes from the car but we ran into a rather large group of hikers between North and Middle who were wearing microspikes and did a number on the trail. Snow was soft and the snowshoes on their backs would have worked better than ripping up the trail.
Another thing of interest were the two guys we ran into who hiked up the south slide and descended the north slide. I am hoping they post a trip report.
Overall it was a nice day. |
