 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
There is no good winter parking for Bald Mtn. Notch Trail on Percy Road or anywhere near it. I continued to Christine Lake, where the road is plowed (but a bit icy and quite steep!), and there is plowed parking for 3 or 4 vehicles. |

 | Comments: |
Had one more straggler trail to do in winter in this area. Starting from Christine Lake, I hoofed it back down the road, then east on Percy Road to the start of Bald Mtn. Notch Trail (which is a section of the Cohos Trail).
The first 1.3 miles are shared with a primary snowmobile trail, and I even met the groomer! After that it was deep snow. I used my biggest Tubbs which made the next almost 3 miles of solo trail breaking manageable. The 1000 foot climb to the height of land is gradual, and the woods are gorgeous although the wind was really whipping through the notch.
I opted not to go for bonus points by hitting Bald Mtn. this trip. Took a left on the Lamphere/connecting path back to Christine Lake. Used my car's "X mode" to safely descend the sketchy-but-plowed Christine Lake Road.
