Trail had been traveled/packed by snowshoers, but they did not go quite all the way to the end of the trail. There are intersecting Jackson XC "snowshoe trails," so be sure you're on the correct trail to the summit.
We came across a recently killed turkey who was missing its head. Lots of feathers and some blood. We could tell it was recent because the body was not yet frozen stiff. Hopefully whatever critter's breakfast was interrupted returned to finish its meal.
