Comments: Ended up getting quite the workout on these "easy" trails, breaking trail for over 10 miles. Snowshoes car to car. Started at the AT crossing on 302 and followed fresh boot prints of ice climbers. I headed SE on Saco River Trail, ice climbers NW. Nice snowshoe mostly downhill to Dry River Campground.

Next up was Maggie's Extension and Maggie's Run. I've always enjoyed this short trail as it passes by some really nice pools on the Saco River. Enjoyed watching ice climbers above on Frankenstein Cliffs. At Pleasant Valley picnic area I doubled back and jumped on Maggie's Run connecting/link trail (unsure of official name of this 0.4 mile path), and then back up Saco River Trail. Snow was getting sticky in here...

Followed Saco River Trail all the way to Sam Willey, did the loops, and headed across the street and UP Kedron Flume Trail 0.3 mile to West Side (aka Worst Side) Trail. Sign with completely inaccurate mileage suggests the trail continues all the way to Pleasant Valley (ack!) which is apparently the plan.

West Side Trail does not "behave" like a normal trail, with many abrupt turns, ups and downs that will leave you scratching your head. Having been on this trail before, I knew what to expect and busted out laughing when, after descending for a good bit, the trail abruptly turns right and climbs steeply UP for no apparent reason. It is well/overly blazed in yellow which is good because you are constantly searching for where this whacky trail is going to go next.

Happy to reach my car and find no indication that West Side Trail continues to Pleasant Valley, but admittedly I did not search very hard. Haha
