 | Comments: |
All the trails had a new dusting of overnight snow over a packed base. As we gained elevation on the FWT, the top layer of new loose snow grew to a few inches. Over 3500' there was substantial drifting. Of the six people on the route today, three wore snowshoes and three wore spikes. The surface was chewed up as we descended, somewhat mitigated by our snowshoes. We bare booted to the kiosk at the North Twin trailhead and wore snowshoes thereafter until removing them for the road walk.
Nice hike with Chris and Renee. The hardwood glades were lovely and the upper softwoods were glorious in their snow mantle. |
