Comments
Comments: I broke trail to Middle and back, with snow depth varying from 3 inches to mid-thigh. The top part of the ascent of Pine Bend Brook Trail as you cross over it was diabolical. Lots of slipping, backsliding, and sideways maneuvers. On the outrun on the way down/out, the temperatures warmed up to that perfect temperature for producing grapefruit-sized lumps of compacted snow under my snowshoes, so my snowshoeing turned the trail into a choppy mess. You will most definitely want snowshoes for this thrill-a-minute hike.
