On with the night project. Left the car at 5:15PM wearing spikes. Temps 17F. Road was hard packed and so was the trail from start to finish. Breeze came up above 3,000ft and I switched out my base layer just short of the junction with the Ridge trail. Summit at 8:05. 3F and breezy. Quick photo and then a single push down. Back to the car at 10:15. Beautiful night in the mountains again. Only Owls Head, northern Presis and Bonds left. What a rewarding journey it’s been to have spent so much time up high in the winter at night. |
