 | Comments: |
I was going light/quick and made a trailhead decision to go with spikes and eventually regretted it. The first quarter mile or so and last quarter mile or so are bony with only a couple of inches of powder. However, a good portion of the rest of the route was 6 inches or so of unconsolidated powder that wasn't packing. Microspikes were spinning around, whereas a good light snowshoe would have been ideal. If I were to go again with current conditions, I'd be on snowshoes.
Nice sunny morning with temperatures rising to near freezing after a dusting of snow earlier. |
