Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There are two stepover / walkaround blowdowns that will be amenable to a saw when they are unfrozen. One is on the Centennial Trail not far above the cool spot where the AT marker is. (Not that you can see it right now but it’s an easy spot to remember!) The other is on the Mahoosuc Trail just past the pretend summit (LOL). Kudos to whoever was recently up there with a chainsaw and removed that monster on Centennial Trail. My dog is just over 2’ tall and the diameter of the tree is definitely more than that (see photos on social media!)
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: My dog had a blast. As usual!

Comments
Comments: Sharp spikes for the ice flows in the lower 2/3 of this hike, and then snowshoes for the snowdrifts in the upper 1/3. Not surprisingly the Mahoosuc Trail headed east is not broken out. The Mahoosuc Trail headed down toward route 16 was also not broken out. We passed a group of 3 also heading up Centennial Trail, and those were the only hikers we saw all day. There are lots of bunny, deer, and moose tracks crisscrossing the entire route, so my pup was highly entertained. We ran into a couple in a giant pickup truck, when we were walking the little bit of Hogan Road back to our car, and they wanted some dog love so they stopped to chat. They said that Hogan Road is washed out and frozen over a little ways up from the trailhead.
