Comments
Comments: Not a lot of snow down low but opted for snowshoes for most of this loop. Western section of Hutmen's is a hiking trail; middle and eastern sections coincide with Jackson XC trails. We walked off to the sides in snowshoes so as to not damage the beautifully groomed surfaces. A couple of confusing intersections... following the WMG description is best.

Views on Hutmen's are very limited, but for extra credit we visited "Hutmen's View" overlooking the valley and nearby mountains to the southeast. This well-used spur is .31 mile off the main route and well worth the side trip.

Left on Carter Notch Road - unplowed but groomed for XC - a half mile to the kiosk. Hall's Ledge Trail is also signed as Wildcat Valley Trail here. As with Hutmen's, Hall's Ledge Trail coincides with groomed Jackson XC trails on the eastern end and can be a bit confusing. Again, just follow the WMG description.

Expansive, southerly views at Valley Vista were the best of the day, better than Hall's Ledge itself! On the final steep descent back to Route 16, we switched over to spikes. Of note, the sign for Hall's Ledge is well below the highway and nearly impossible to see from the road.
