Bareboots, then spikes to Lonesome Lake Hut. Snowshoes up Fishin' Jimmy, down Kinsman Pond and Cascade Brook Trails back to Lonesome Lake Hut. Could spike Fishin' Jimmy, but I opted for snowshoes for televators, better traction than spikes, and a smoother trail for those who follow.
Some drifting around Kinsman Pond, but what an amazing winter wonderland up there currently! Kinsman Pond Trail had been broken out by snowshoers a few days ago, then apparently by a barebooter who left some hidden postholes (hidden because there was new snow atop the snowshoe track) resulting in a few ankle twisters. Boo!
I did the out and back I "needed" to Basin-Cascades Trail, then returned to the hut. This section had been very recently barebooted but was still soft enough that I smoothed it out a bit with snowshoes. Spikes back down LLT.
This completed the winter Cannon-Kinsman tab of the WMG. :) |
