Joe and I left his car at Oliverian Brook and then drove up to Pine Bend. Trail was hard packed with a little drifting as me moved up and over the tri's we used micro spikes the whole day-- some would be more comfortable with crampons on the ascent of the tris and descent of the South Slide.
Trail was well packed and tracked out all the way across the Sleepers with all kinds of animal tracks along the way.
Met Bruce P coming off White Face and he let us know of one large stretch of ice half between there and dicey's mill trail. We did not see another soul all day. Coming down from Passaconaway was steep and fast and really the only bad stretch was from the Passaconaway Cutoff down to where the ski trail comes off oliverian brook the trail was a weird semi packed uneven crust that tore us up. Fast day congrats to Joe B on numbers 39-43 for winter 48 2011-12! |
