 | Comments: |
The road has a lot of new snow on it, about 4 inches. It had been packed down by snow mobiles but was still very loose. We started the hike with microspikes and they stayed on for the entire hike. Our snowshoes stayed strapped to our packs. The final 1/2 mile to the summit, snowshoes could be used—the snow is deeper, but we did fine with spikes. The trail is nicely packed the whole way. We only saw a total of 5 other hikers all day. The trees were gorgeous…so much heavy snow covering them that it created tunnels to walk through. Unfortunately the summit was socked in, but still an amazing day out there. Trail conditions will be changing after the snow on Sunday night. |
