Comments
Comments: Thanks to Gary and his group for their report the other day. That put this hike back on my mind.

Ground conditions were a mix of thin snow cover and leaves/pine needles. I wore old spikes but they weren't absolutely necessary. As temps warmed up the spikes started to ball up a bit.

The new-to-me bit of this hike was the side trip to Bald Mink. From the bump just south of the Middle Mink summit, I left the trail following the previous groups tracks. Woods were very open the entire way although its quite a descent to the col between the main ridge and the peak. Bald Mink is no longer so but it's clearly evident that this summit was completely open many years ago. With the leaves down there are some peekaboo views through the trees. There's also a large cairn on top reminiscent of the one on nearby Stewarts Peak.

A quiet day out here with no other humans seen.
