A fine day to be out. A little on the colder side but no wind made for a rather pleasant winter day. The trail is in excellent shape all around. Barebooted up to Mt Suprise with no issues. The first mile or so is snow covered but a little bony. I put on spikes after Surprise where the trail gets a little steeper. From here on, the trail has a healthy amount of snow cover and is well packed and hard. No postholes to be seen. The snow is quite deep at the summit, but as long as you stay on trail you will be fine. Snow shoes not needed right now. Get it while the getting is good |
