Comments
Comments: Surprised at how shallow the snowpack is on the lower part of the Gale River Trail. It's bony! A little bit of exposed ice, and I think just one area of open water. I barebooted to about 3200 feet, and then put on snowshoes. Occasional bony areas all the way up, even on the Frost Trail. There is now a good snowshoe track from the hut to the top of Galehead, and an okay snowshoe track from the hut down to about 2700 feet (where things were so bony I switched from snowshoes to spikes on the descent). It looked like one set of fresh tracks on the Garfield Ridge Trail from Garfield to the Gale River Trail. As of early afternoon, the old track up the Twinway to South Twin was blown in. Nice to meet J, K, and P.
