 | Comments: |
I did Blue Loop clockwise and added an out-and-back to Cooley Hill on Yellow Trail. On the way back, I took Red Trail over Cole Hill.
There were 3-6 inches of light powder on a base of crusty snow and treacherous patches of ice. I wore snow shoes the whole way, but I think spikes would have been just as effective. There were small patches of deep, drifted snow on top of Cole Hill -- not enough to absolutely require snowshoes.
The most notable hazard was the occasional patch of ice under the powder. While descending, virtually any step could send you slip-sliding away. If current conditions hold, you definitely need either spikes or snowshoe teeth with some bite. |
