 | Comments: |
The typical ice bulges have taken hold on Old Mountain Road from all of the runoff. Microspikes are inadequate to safely descend these wall-to-wall ice portions. I opted to take an unmarked trail to avoid it on the descent and will probably avoid Old Mountain Road until we get enough snow to snowshoe.
Rock spikes were needed to safely descend the Crawford Ridgepole Trail back to the col from Livermore.
Overall, there's snow/ice cover on maybe a third or so of the trails.
Chilly late afternoon with temperatures in the teens down low and breezy conditions up high. Squam Lake looks iced over. |
