 | Dog-Related Notes: |
My dog loved it - her new insulated jacket kept the pep in her step, even though it was 3F on S. Kinsman, 6F on N. Kinsman, and -2F on Cannon. I don't recall seeing another dod out there today (or many humans, for that matter). |

Spikes up to the Fishin' Jimmy/KRT junction, then I used snowshoes, as the KRT wasn't overly broken out, and it turned out there were a fair amount of drifts - I kept them on the rest of the day (aside from the tower at Cannon), mostly because I was too lazy to stop using them. I even downclimbed the Hi-Cannon ladder with them on (and my pup followed behind me without any missteps). Heads up: The stretch of the KRT over the Cannonballs has been mauled by Post Hole Pete and his Parade of Party Poopers. Throw in a brief melt and then a hard freeze and the conditions were like the 7 circles of hell - possibly the most brutally hellish stretch of winter trail I've done, thanks to the wide array of post hole hell. I doubt that my snowshoes made much of an improvement. Throw in -2F with 40mph winds on Cannon, and it was a definite Type 2 fun day out there. |
