 | Comments: |
Frigid day on Garfield but good conditions relative to trail reports elsewhere in the Whites. We barebooted until just after the second water crossing (about 1800 feet elevation) and then wore spikes the rest of the day. Snowshoes would help up top but aren’t 100% necessary. Some icy sections in the middle but nothing treacherous. The highlight of our day was hearing an undeniable moose snort on the ascent. No sighting but there is for sure nothing else that could have made that noise. Dress warm this week! The cold and windchill are not for the faint of heart. |
