This evening I spent a good amount of time cutting out all the remaining frozen trees on the loop. (The technique is to zip all the frozen branches off and take them out in sections, easy work for the Silky). The Carriage Rd currently has enough snow to ski I’d say, at least above Snapper, and Snapper as well. (Maybe one or 2 hidden rocks). It is getting pretty narrow with the trees all leaning in though, and I’d expect more trees to come down this season. I was glad I brought snowshoes for this trail, 6” of fluffy snow to help fill in post holes. Gorge Brook was packed by boots but could benefit from some snowshoe-love to widen it. Much more snow over here than in Franconia I was pleased to find. |
