Trail Maintenance Notes: Frequent blowdowns south of Mt Surprise. Most are at least partially cleared. You are able to get around or under all of them.

Comments: Note: continued high winds could have created additional blowdowns since this post.

About 1” new snow at base and 4-5” at the top. Blue ice under the snow in spots on the ledges. Micro spikes probably would not be enough given the snow on top of the ice. I used Hillsound trail crampons the whole way with good success. Snowshoes are not needed but could be used above Mt Surprise. Drifting snow can make the trail difficult to follow if you are a first timer. My up tracks were drifted over by the time I came down.
