Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking was free today at Monadnock State Park Headquarters. Visitors were asked to sign in and sign liability statement if hadn't done it online. Plenty of parking mid-morning but mid-afternoon when I returned lot was pretty full. Ranger said microspikes needed to be carried/used. I carried mine and was glad I had them, tho I didn't use them.

Comments
Comments: Was just hoping it wouldn't be pouring and it wasn't really... except off the trees at times. Not much of to see at top though sun was trying to break through. Decided to redline a few more trails so this was fun. Ascending the summit rock was very sketchy for me... just a glaze of ice but grip was generally good. New snow was very slushy. Had summit to myself then descended quickly because I forgot my headlamps in the car... not that I expected to be out that long but I was going pretty slow due to the sketchy footing. On the descent, wasn't sure what route to take so opted for White Cross - that was pretty nice and very few of those big scary steps. Overall, most trails were running streams. Great way to start off the new year!!!!
