 | Comments: |
The AT from Hanover to the base of Moose Mountain was 99% snow and ice free. Most extensive ice is right at the beginning of VRT next to the athletic field - a sheet of ice. Temps rose to near 55F and were warm enough to have a leisurely sit-down lunch in the grass at the beautiful open field in the Hanover Center Trail segment. Lots of old stone walls and one very large, impressive cellar hole in this section.
Upon reaching Three Mile Road, we drove back to Hanover to do all the Velvet Rocks side trails, which are a bit confusing. We got all of them except for Trescott Spur, which will have to be another day, no biggie. (Oli's Eagle is a side trail on the other side of the ridge that I've done previously.)
A lovely "spring hike" to close out the year!
