 | Comments: |
Below the turn into the softwoods (3000') there were stretches of soft ice and mud, not as bad as we expected, and no snow on the ground. From the turn all the way to Waumbek's summit the trail had a consistent cover of well-packed snow, perfect for spikes. Between the peaks there were many postholes along the side of the path. Packed snow cover remained firm and didn't deteriorate noticeably while we were up there. Jays were voracious on Starr King.
Lovely hike with Chris, enjoying the nice footing and the studio snow that was falling up high. We enjoyed chatting with a few of the hikers along the way. |
