 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The Webster-Jackson Trail crossing snow bridge was still holding well but this rain might change that. The Webster Branch crossing snow bridge at the Silver Cascade falls was holding but closer to collapse. Be careful with both. The trivial "crossings" were starting to rot away so were sometimes a surprise punch through. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
My dog struggled a little with the steep section on the Webster Cliff Trail at the final .1mi up to Jackson. She managed on her own, but the wet snow and ice made it difficult and she is very trail adept. |

 | Comments: |
With the rain happening now the report might be moot, but I personally would not take the Webster Branch, or the Webster Cliff Trail from Webster to Jackson, until we get some fresh snow or at least a good freeze. Both were in much worse shape than the Jackson Branch. It was very spring-like with rotting and slippery mush, or wet ice mixed with ice on slabs and scrambles. The Webster Branch was becoming a stream in some places. On the Webster Cliff Trail snowshoes were needed and even so would still have some postholes. Good spikes were a must and crampons helpful when tackling the two steep slab sections up/down the top of Jackson. The Jackson Branch was much more solid and did well with just spikes, but the rain is likely wrecking that. We need new snow. |
