Comments
Comments: Ascended the ski trail at Snows Mtn in Waterville. About 300 feet up there is a USFS sign for Greeley Ledges and Snows Mountain Summit. Wore snowshoes the entire day, but could've worn spikes up to Snows summit.

After a failed attempt to reach the Lost Pass a few weeks back, where we ran into thick Spruce dead ends, within .4 of the recognized Pass, we thought that a traverse over the Snows Mountain ridge, which runs parallel to the Sleepers to the north, might offer gentler terrain. We were right; For the most part we enjoyed open woods with occasional spruce and bog puzzles to circumnavigate, but in the end we made it to the Pass proper, which is a very untamed and wild area. Often, GPS/online maps do not capture subtle features in the region, making route planning frustrating. Not much to see at the end, just more thick spruce, but a great long day out with friends in some challenging terrain and warmish but soupy weather.

Not a great day for views, although there was a cool panoramic spread of the Sleepers to South Tripyramid Slide, ascending Snows Mtn. and a vantage looking south to Noon Peak Jennings and Welch, but partially sock-ed in.

7 miles over 8.5 hours.

Solid track for anyone that wants to explore this region without having to break trail. Will probably try one more approach from Flat Mountain Shelter... at some other point.
