Comments
Comments: All kinds of conditions out there on Moriah today. Mostly light powdery snow that was not really sticking or packing down. A few inches on bottom, more like several feet up top. A couple spicy icy parts on ledges but we got it done and we had some fun! We snowshoed to the top, and then spiked down. It was hard to tell, which would’ve been better today. Got pushed around a lot on the spikes due to the snow being so late And there were so many bare booters that our snow shoes really weren’t making a difference for the health of the trail. Hopefully the traffic today and temps overnight will make it a little bit firmer. Still tons of blow downs within the last half mile, most are navigable, and we even did them all with our snow shoes on. On the lower part of the trail, probably within the first couple of miles, there is an old bog board with four large railroad sized nails sticking out. Be mindful of these and look for them. I got caught on one with my spike and it ripped my spike off and sent me flying! 🤣 pics on insta Elizacal
