Several stream crossings, not too difficult but hard to keep snowshoes from getting wet and iced up. |

No significant blowdowns in the first 2.4 miles. Maybe just a couple more blazes would be good - I did stay on trail but wasn’t quite sure at times. |

A beautiful day to be out, though I didn’t even come close to my goal of the Cabot summit. I made it 2.4 miles in and turned around. Temperature inversion was going on again so around 2800 feet the snow got sticky and my snowshoes became heavy. Plus, I was sinking a foot deep with each step so I don’t think I would have made it anyway. I had also just hiked Wildcat D and snowboarded down, so wasn’t on totally fresh legs, but was feeling ambitious. It was good to see lots of moose activity, tracks everywhere. Anyway, maybe someone can finish what I started, and hopefully the snow firms up a bit. Breaking out the loop from the clockwise direction might be easier, but be prepared for deep snow. |
