Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There were a number of blowdowns on the Franconia Ridge Trail. We removed a number of them but there are more. Most can be gotten around easily but some are a bit more of problem and we did not have big enough saws for them. The problem ones are on the Franconia Ridge Trail between Little Haystack and Liberty Springs Trail.

Comments
Comments: Liberty Springs Trail is in good shape. The Franconia Ridge Trail from Liberty to Flume had fresh snow on it and we used our snowshoes over and back so it is good shape now. The Franconia Ridge Trail between Liberty Spring junction and Little Haystack was broken out by someone barebooting and leaving the usual postholes. Why anyone would want to bareboot that distance is hard to understand. We used our snowshoes and attempted to make the trail better. We removed a number of blowdowns on this stretch but not all. Fortunately for us, we got passed by 3 hikers who were wearing snowshoes so the trail has been completely broken out and should be good except for some of the blowdowns. The ridge from Little Haystack to Lafayette has snow, some rocks, and some ice. Spikes were really good for this section of Franconia Ridge and we used them all the way down the Greenleaf Trail and Old Bridal Path.
