Horatio Colony Nature Preserve in Keene/Swanzey.
There was about an inch of new snow over bare ground here so neither spikes nor snowshoes were needed. I barebooted round-trip. Ended up hiking about eight miles with the side trips along the tent site spur, Slickenside, and Black Lead Mine.
Temps stayed cold in the 20s and I could hear the wind howling in the tree tops but down on the ground I couldn't feel it too much. |
