Starr King road has some major ice humps/packed snow divots so definitely recommend caution and 4WD/AWD. Small lot filled up probably by 9am but you can park down the hill on Rte 2 if it's full. |

Trail was in good condition. Some ice, some packed snow, some fresh snow probably 2-3 inches, etc. No real issues. Saw about 7 others on this out and back route. Trail was not broken beyond Waumbek to head out to Weeks if you are considering that. Wore Hillsound spikes and those were perfect. Not enough snow pack to damage trail with spikes so wasn't worried about that. Snowshoes are probably overkill but would smooth out trail a little. |
