Fast easy late day (2:45 pm) run up the hill attempting to see the full moon rise, which was not evident, probably as Franconia Ridge obscured low horizon views to the east. But still a great day. Increasingly cloudy as afternoon progressed but still got the classic view across the lake, which was frozen and walkable.
Congrats to the young woman receiving a proposal today. We arrived at the top to rows of twinkling lights strung across the trees, dangling a dozen photos of the couple and white “Marry Me?” Letters across the trail. Meanwhile six or eight friends scattered rose petals at the lake’s edge and queried us about the couple’s timing behind us. From the whoops and hollers we heard as we neared the hut - it sounded like a yes! |
