 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The water crossing on the ISO Express 2024 is very sketchy...quite frankly dangerous. I turned around and took the 2023 version of the ISO Express down (there were a few foot steps off the trail) and found the crossing there much, much safer. Otherwise, I would have turned around and returned to my car. |

So after yesterday's trip report on ISO, I decided to hike it today, knowing that the forecast for this coming week is similar to last week. I agree that the hike is very doable with both bushwhacks packed out. I wore spikes out and back. Snowshoes would have been difficult because of several bony sections and often a very narrow pathway. There was a great deal of bare rock, ice, and leaves heading up the steeps for the first couple of miles, some sections beyond the steeps with thin ice. So watch your step and take advantage of the snow along the sides. I found the bushwhacks were a bit meandering and added an extra 1/2 - 3/4 mile distance compared to my hike last March 2023, but still saved distance overall and less water crossings. Thanks to those who packed the route out! |
