Terrific quick afternoon jog/walk. We had micros in the car and were pleasantly surprised trail is mostly bare. After around a mile, you come to the long beautiful beaches - was fine with no traction - always have to take a quick slide on large metal slide, then swing on swingset (all are open for winter) - then go the the end of beach near ranger cabin, touch the last campfire hibachi pit, and run back. Minimal ice on ledges between beaches and Peninsula trail. Beautiful views of islands and Newfound Lake. Winter sun made it seem like maybe winter won't last forever. Popular place but never crazy busy in winter. |
