Not sure who put up the green arrow signs on Old Mountain Rd. but I don't remember them from last time. Looks like a LOT of water came down the road during the recent rains, which has gouged it out even further. Along the ridge there is one small snag cluster but it has been trimmed and is easily walked under. |

 | Comments: |
Today, this entire route was solidly frozen so microspikes were fine and snowshoes wouldn't have been of any use. Snow depths are also fairly minimal even on the ridge. Old Mountain Rd. has some stretches of ice. If sticking to the road proper and not along the side, don't wear your dress spikes as there are still plenty of rocks.
Cold temps in the 20s but no wind made for a comfortable stay at the outlook. |
