Just to add to the other reports, I came back and continued over Pierce to Mizpah Hut and then to Jackson. The trail is well broke out to the hut but the snow isn't consolidated. It was less so heading over to Jackson but was easy to follow. I put on my snow shoes a couple of times but switched back to micros. The is a big ice flow just above the Webster Branch and several in the rocky ledges near Bugle Cliff but all had easy ways around. I may be jealous of the people who hit the Northern Presis but it had to be one of the nicest winter days in the Southerns. Felt very warm and I lingered whenever I had reason. |
