 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking is plowed but not sanded so it may be slippery. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Drifts |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The water isn’t super high but it’s high enough that the best way to cross is using the log bridge. I recommend spikes and poles for that. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Huge multi-tree blowdown on Rollins Trail about a mile past the Diceys Mill junction. Requires significant off-trail navigation to get around. There were lots of other blowdowns between there and Whiteface as well but none as bad. |

Diceys Mill: This was easy going and well packed down. I barebooted to the river crossing and then put on spikes. After the junction with Rollins the trail turns into running water most of the way to the Passaconaway loop but it’s pretty easy to avoid the water.
Passaconaway Loop: Went up the left side of the loop which was more broken out. Well-packed though there were a couple of blowdowns which were pretty easy to get around.
Rollins: I don’t think this has seen much traffic and the snow was much softer so I switched to snowshoes here. The first mile was easy because someone had been through clearing blowdowns. Lots of fresh sawing. However after the huge blowdown one mile in the clearing stopped and there were tons of blowdowns the rest of the way to Whiteface which made for very slow going.
I saw one person who had come up Blueberry Ledge and she said it was very hard and slow.
Many many thanks to everyone who has been out clearing the trails!
