A lovely but brisk day for a nice loop on the excellent New London Conservation Commission trails. Always a joy to hike here.
Snow remains in this area but the depth is minimal -- a few inches at best. These trails were a combo of frozen snowpack, smoother snowshoe tracks, postholes, and boot divots. This was all fine and did not make travel difficult. Snowshoes are useless here right now but the current conditions are perfect for microspikes. Not much in the way of exposed ice.
I cut over to Great Brook Trail on the way back and the brook is looking really pretty right now -- nice flow and it's starting to ice over. |
