 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Diana’s Baths lot was a skating rink. Only 2 other cars at 11:00 am. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes, Light Traction |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Many water crossings, especially on Attitash trail. The water is not deep at all, but they are still somewhat tricky rock hops and hard on the snowshoes. It can be hard to find the trail after crossing too, since there were no tracks visible and many wide washouts. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Not many blowdowns. I did remove a few, and there are still a couple that are easy enough to avoid that I left. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Good trail for dogs I’d say. Diana’s Baths is usually busy though. |

 | Comments: |
Saw nobody today after Diana’s Baths. Trail was hard supportive snow/ice up until Attitash junction, then I put on snowshoes for that trail which hadn’t seen much traffic. There was an inviting view of N. Moat from Big A summit, so I aimed my compass at it and had a great bushwhack over on the supportive crust. A little pokey but not too thick by my standards, took about 1 hour and I came out on the trail south of the summit cone. The trail back down from the summit was the opposite of the way I came up - no water crossings and all rock and ice floes most of the way. I switched back to spikes halfway down but should have done that before summiting actually. Snowshoes aren’t needed if you’re just doing North Moat at this time I’d say. Definitely want them for Attitash trail or traversing to the other Moats. |
