Ethan pond trail was broken out with a light fresh dusting of snow until the Kendron junction. From there the trail was choppy and switched between ice, running water in the middle of trail, bare rocks and snow. Ladders were covered in thick snow, some steps were showing and others had to kick away some of the snow to find a step. After the ladders there were some snow drifts. Came back down and went to the side of 2 of the ladders and used trees, the other ladders went down backwards and no issues. 2 bigger blowdowns that we went around. Didn’t use snowshoes, the trail conditions after the rain would have made it difficult to use them and we would have been putting them on and off. Trail was very wet and once it freezes it will be extremely icy. |
