Mt. Prospect Trail is a MESS thanks to Microspikers during the thaw/rain this week. It is a frozen mess of divots and postholes pretty much all the way up to the viewpoint. When it's warm/wet, either wear snowshoes/flotation or stay home, unless of course you like ruining things for everyone else.
From the viewpoint to the summit is generally more bare than anything, as the traditional snow shadow is in place for that section (some black ice). Otherwise, snowpack is anywhere from a couple of inches to maybe 8-10 inches in a few pockets. Crunchy frozen/loose granular.
Won't be back until we get enough snow to cover up the ankle-turning mess. Too bad that a few inconsiderate people have to ruin it for everyone else. |
