Great day, the trail was completely broken in except for a few small patches between the peaks where snowdrifts had moved in on the trail. Lots of low-hanging trees looking to drop ice down the back if your shirt as you go. Cleared a few deadfalls but it doesn't feel good cutting live trees that are just bent over from snow load across the trail. Saw one other hiker in snowshoes and a pair in microspikes. The microspike hikers made great time and ended up right behind me so it can absolutely be done without snowshoes if you wish. |
