From the lot to the hut off of Al Merrill was packed out well from snowshoes. Above has been broken out by two others that I met later on the ascent.
After the first switchback there are plenty of trees to go around or duck under. This trail needs some good trailwork by the DOC & Associates to open it up. Mature trees are holding well but the young ones can bear the weight.
Made it to the height of the trail and peered down towards the ridge trail that was not broken out.
The ski was very fun with great coverage and depths. Even spotted some moose tracks as I skied some glades between switchbacks. Very scenic day in snow covered conifers. |
