 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
At angle parking, road was not plowed or sanded but driveable. I seriously hate how those red letter plates in winter in snow feel its appropriate to park within 6" of your bumper and make your egress an Austin Powers tunnel scene 47 point turn. Thankfully this behavior was anticipated |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Drifts |

 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
All crossings are bridged. It should be noted the 1982 Memorial Footbridge near the lodge has gates that will be closed in 'high water' events and is overtly signed as such going forward. Hopefully this is truly the case and not a precursor of something else. |

My arms are very tired today. Over forty (four-zero) blowdowns, crowns, limbs, leaners or otherwise hazards removed. Two are too frozen into the ground and too large to be removed at this time. There is one down low at the minor reroute around the washout that goes upslope and downslope in rapid succession that may be axe worthy, or just more time than I was willing to give it. I did delimb this tree as high and tights as I could. With a deeper snowpack it probably can be removed easier. I did leave about a dozen more leaners that I felt would bounce back once they lost their heavy ice loads. I wasn't about to start scalping trees for a temporary fix.
A FINE day was had for a walk. Most, but not all, were in snowshoes, because why would we do that. As mentioned above, today was a trailwork heavy day for our trio. Enough snow for snowshoes car to car. A nice trough has developed which was a delight to see. Not a lot of traffic out today and this still will likely be filled in on Sunday morning. Still very, very loose and unconsolidated through the trip but snowshoes made it easy (especially with televators). As is typical for me in winter in powder, we wildly cut the switchbacks and enjoyed our magic shoes for their intended use: off roading. These conditions will continue through Tuesday, then seemingly on cue, we will have our December "Grinch" storm and wildly change conditions - but snowshoes would absolutely be needed after that. Unless you want to leave frozen slush divots for everyone |
